pandoc error producing PDF from Markdown source

Issue

  • I get an error when I run the command below:

    pandoc -f markdown -s -V documentclass=article -V geometry:margin=0.75in --smart --normalize --toc  -o output_file.pdf input_file.md
pandoc: Error producing PDF from TeX source.
! LaTeX Error: File `ifxetex.sty' not found.

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.10
  • cmake, pandoc, texlive-xetex, PyQt4, PyQt4-devel, and python-zmq packages installed
