The root user is unable to copy files to the nfs exported mount point.

Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

  • There is a mount point that is exported via nfs. It houses my users home directories, a typical autofs setup.
  • Each users home directory are owned by them self (uname:users) and the permissions on the mount point are 755.
  • root can't copy or move files into users home directories, only the user that owns the directory.

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 - All architectures
  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6 - All architectures
