MDS mitigations are not enabled despite having proper kernel and microcode versions

Issue

After installing the latest kernel and microcode_ctl package versions the MDS CPU vulnerability is still reported as not mitigated despite having the microcode updated as per the kernel log.

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6
  • kernel version 2.6.32-754.14.2
  • microcode_ctl version 1.17-33.11
