Autofs needs ldap.conf file and does not work with sssd configuration only

Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

  • When using SSSD to cache automount maps no entries are found when I use the command "automount -m"
  • I'm able to logon with a ldap userid, without homedir.
  • This can be fixed defining the file "/etc/openldap/ldap.conf" and restarting the autofs daemon
  • Now all mountpoints will be found and I can logon with homedir.

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 6.3 and higher
  • System Security Services Daemon (SSSD) 1.8 and higher
  • Autofs
