Eth0 inaccessible when firstly starting up loopback interface lo:0 on RHEL

Issue

  • The VM’s traffic passing through the Server Load Balancer, user had configured an additional loopback adapter called ifcfg-lo:0 as follows:

When the server reboots or the service network restart runs, the eth0 is non longer accessible even though ifconfig reports all interfaces are up.

root@hostname network-scripts]# cat ifcfg-lo:0
DEVICE=lo:0
IPADDR=xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx
NETMASK=xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx
ONBOOT=yes
NAME=loopback
