RHEVH: iSCSI SAN failover taking too long

Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

  • Our RHEV storage domains are using iSCSI to an IBM Storwize V7000 system, which should provide fully redundant active/active paths to each LUN.
  • We've recently had two incidents of single controller crashes on the storwize, and this is causing problems for RHEV:
"Storage domain <domain name> experienced a high latency of 28.7959890366 seconds from host <host name>. This may cause performance and functional issues. Please consult your Storage Administrator."

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization Hypervisor release 6.4 (20130501.0.el6_4)
  • IBM Storwize V7000
