Why NIC cards are showing down and unable to bring up, getting error: [bnx2x_get_settings:77(ethX)] XGXS PHY Failure detected 0xff00fd11

Issue

  • NIC cards showing down unable to bring it UP. dmesg output has following logs,
bnx2x 0000:05:00.0: ethX: NIC Link is Down
[bnx2x_attn_int_deasserted0:1981(eth4)]SPIO5 hw attention
bnx2x 0000:05:00.0: ethX: Fan Failure on Network Controller has caused the driver to shutdown the card to prevent permanent damage.  Please contact OEM Support for assistance
bonding: bond0: link status definitely down for interface eth4, disabling it
[bnx2x_attn_int_deasserted0:1981(eth5)]SPIO5 hw attention
bnx2x 0000:05:00.1: eth5: Fan Failure on Network Controller has caused the driver to shutdown the card to prevent permanent damage.  Please contact OEM Support for assistance
