[RFE] Prevent Satellite Clients from updating outside of scheduled maintenance windows

Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

  • Ability to really lock a server from updates
  • Within the RHN Satellite UI you can lock a server from having RPM's & configuration files from being deployed. This is a very good function as it prevents any software from accidentally being deployed. The issue is that there is no way of preventing software being deployed via up2date or yum on the actual server itself. Hence the "locking" of the server doen't work. The client requires a means of preventing any software being downloaded/deployed onto a server from the Satellite central server unless it has been scheduled via the User Interface. This way there is an audit trail and only users with Satellite access can deploy software.
