Events are not captured when log monitoring is enabled before managed server is started

Issue

  • I enabled log monitoring on several JBoss EAP 6.1 host controllers and managed servers. For most of them this works fine and the events show up after some delay but for some servers events are not captured at all. What am I doing wrong?
  • I added new managed server and enabled log monitoring, but events from my server.log file are not captured. Why?

Environment

  • JBoss Operations Network (JON) 3.1.2
  • JBoss Enterprise Application Platform (EAP) 6.1 (domain mode)
  • created new managed server and enabled log monitoring before the server is actually started for the first time
