Is JPA 2.1 supported with EAP 6.x ?
Environment
- Red Hat JBoss Enterprise Application Platform (EAP)
- 5.x
- 6.x
- Java Persisteance API (JPA)
- 2.1
- Hibernate
- 4.3
Issue
- Is
JPA 2.1supported withEAP 5.xorEAP 6.x? - Is java application with
JPA 2.1supported this version ? RunningJPA 2.1onEAP 6.xisn't feasible? - WAR application having
JPA 2.1andHibernate 4.3fails while deployment inEAP 6.2and gives following error. - Currently it's JPA version is 2.0 with Spring 3.1. Our requirement is to upgrade the JPA version to 2.1 .
- A newer version of hibernate-jpa was added to the application, but when deploying the application, it always loads the one from jboss module directory instead of the one in WEB-INF/lib of war file.

- We would like to use JPA 2.1 with Stored Procedures in our application. We are aware that JPA 2.1 is part of J2EE7, while EAP 6.x supports J2EE6. When are you going to add support for J2EE7/JPA2.1 to EAP platform? Is there any roadmap for EAP?
- We added the dependency of
jpa 2.0like below but still we are getting errors.
<dependency>
<groupId>org.hibernate.javax.persistence</groupId>
<artifactId>hibernate-jpa-2.0-api</artifactId>
<version>1.0.1.Final-redhat-3</version>
<scope>provided</scope>
</dependency>

Resolution
-
JPA 2.1is not supported withEAP 5.xorEAP 6.x. -
A possible workaround can be found in this JIRA[1].
[1] https://issues.jboss.org/browse/WFCORE-209
Note - When you are using jpa 2.0 then also please confirm that you are using xsd of jpa 2.0 http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/persistence/persistence_2_0.xsd instead of jpa 2.1 .
Root Cause
JPA 2.1is part ofJEE 7 specwhereEAP 6is based onJEE 6 spec.
