Tab to complete in bash or a similar shell no longer functions on an IBM AIX client mounting an NFS share from Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.9

  • When attempting to use tab to complete in bash it does not function over NFS.
  • Tab to complete works on local filesystems.
  • Using 32-bit version of bash.

Environment

  • NFS Server:
    • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.9
  • NFS Client:
    • IBM AIX
    • 32-bit shell
