Differences in the localhost entry in /etc/hosts on Red Hat Enterprise Linux systems

Issue

  • On some servers there seems to be a difference in the default entry for 127.0.0.1 in /etc/hosts :

    127.0.0.1               localhost.localdomain localhost

  • and :

    127.0.0.1               svlirc16 localhost.localdomain localhost

  • What's the reason for this change?
