resize2fs: Resizing an online EXT4 filesystem on a loopback device hangs
Issue
- Resizing a loop-back filesystems is hanging
- Performing an offline resize of a EXT4 filesystem is successful, but the same filesytem can not be resized online.
- The behavior can not be reproduced with LVM/partitions.
- The behavior can not be reproduced with XFS.
Environment
- Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6
- Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7
- Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8
- EXT4 filesystems with 1K block sizes
- Loopback storage
