With light load, request traffic is notably unbalanced through mod_cluster

Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

  • With light or low load, load is notably unbalanced or uneven through mod_cluster. We have just a few nodes handling hundreds of sessions and requests with elect counts in the thousands while several other nodes balanced by this httpd server only have a handful of sessions and elect counts less than 100.
  • What is the best algorithm to use with mod cluster to have the traffic well balanced on all the instances? We have tried the default one, which is busyness, but in that case the traffic is not balanced. With two instances running,. we have, on average, one instance with 20% more traffic than the other.
  • We have observed some high load of requests coming to one of the node in a cluster when compared with others, We are using mod_cluster busyness load metric.Does this has any problem. or any scenarios in which it fails.
  • We have observed that mod_cluster manager page is reporting negative value for Read and Transferred column and there is huge difference in Elected count values for each JBoss nodes. How to fix this issue?
