Tapes inserted to fibre tape drives being set to full.

Issue

  • When using a product called EMC Networker for backups together with another product called emc data domain to provide virtual taped drives to all the servers, on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6 the tapes are reported as full.
  • This issue does not occur on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.
  • We have been advised by storage vendor to modify the value of lpfc_sg_seg_cnt from 64 to 256 to overcome a tape driver related issue. Can you advise if this will affect any other areas of the OS's operation?
