In RHEL 6, need to remove SWAP filesystem from partition

Issue

  • Need to remove SWAP filesystem from partition
  • When moving SWAP from /dev/sda2 to LVM. Then adding /dev/sda2 to a volume group. The partition flags show that /dev/sda2 is LVM, but the filesystem still shows as SWAP when using the parted command. Will this be an issue?
  • Is there a way to remove the SWAP filesystem prior to added it to the volume group?
