The bootstrap script fails with the proxy error on Red Hat Satellite 6.

Issue

  • Unable to register the client to the Red Hat Satellite server using bootstrap script.
  • The bootstrap.py script fails during host registration as mentioned below:

  • AWS or AZURE network segment could have issues with firewall.

    [ERROR], [2019-01-23 16:51:15], EXITING: [/usr/sbin/subscription-manager register --org 'org_name' --name 'name' --activationkey 'activation_key' --release=x.x --serverurl=server_name:443/rhsm --baseurl=base_url --force] failed to execute properly.
Proxy connection failed, please check your settings.
  • After removing proxy details from /etc/rhsm/rhsm.conf file, proxy details are added again when executing bootstrap script from the client.
