How can I setup a monitoring environment with PCP for my systems, consisting of collect-system and many different systems which get monitored?

Issue

I can only find documentation where the local instance of pmcd is used. What i miss is remote collection of other servers. Use case:

• Local instance shall collect ALL metrics of pcp-zeroconf so they are included in sosreport
• Remote instances (and also local instance) for graphs shall collect a subset (e.g. not the process info) to reduce the data size collecting of all servers because data size multiplies quickly with 500+ servers and multiple days.
• Housekeeping of local instance and remote instance data shall be different, local instance 14 days, remote data 30-90 days.

What is your recommendations on how to setup our use case? Is is possible / supported ?
