Can we migrate individual user and group entries from an existing LDAP environment to IdM using an LDAP client?

We want to be able to export/import individual user and group entries from an existing LDAP environment into an existing IPA/IdM environment.

We would like to use a standard LDAP client to connect to IdM and add new users and groups.

Alternatively, we were considering
ipa migrate-dsto perform this operation.
The idea is to use it just to import one user or group individually from an LDAP directory into IPA/IdM, and we want to do it in a supported way.
Environment
- Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6
- Identity Management services (IdM)
