Cannot connect to console of VM running on KVM

Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

  • I can not log into or install a VM on our KVM host using virt-manager.
  • But while trying to open a console window for the guest, receive error:

  • I ran the following command from root and nothing happened, received the prompt back and that is all.
 # virt-viewer -c qemu:///system test
 #

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.8
