RHEL6.3 guest hangs in a RHEV environment.

Issue

  • A RHEL guest, running with kernel 2.6.32-279.14.1.el6.x86_64, will lockup with no errors in the messages log. The RHEL guest is running in a RHEV 3.1 cluster. To reboot the server, the VM needs to be powered off via the RHEV Manager. The VM booted correctly afterwards.

  • The guest-specific log file in /var/log/libvirt/qemu contained the following error;

block I/O error in device 'drive-virtio-disk0': No space left on device (28)

  • Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization (RHEV) 3.1
  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 6.3 guest
