Issue

  • Attempting to join a Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.x system to an Active Directory domain using net ads join results in one or more unknown parameters getting reported by winbind.
  • This occurs when samba configuration in an older version is migrated to a newer version with updated attributes.
  • However, the domain join operation may still complete successfully.

When using samba/winbind to join a Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.x system to an AD domain, net ads join may log warning messages as shown below:

# net ads join -U testuser@testdomain.example.com
