"AuthInfoRequired" in CUPS configuration file "printers.conf" is rewritten in RHEL

Solution Unverified - Updated -

Issue

  • The AuthInfoRequired parameter was set into none, but it's being rewritten to username, password automatically.
  • problems with printer authentication
  • We are having problems with the authentication of the printers. Basically the problem consists of the CUPS configuration used in a system without authentication ("AuthInfoRequired none"), but periodically this value changes and stays configured for authentication with user and password ("AuthInfoRequired username, password").
  • Currently we are experimenting a problem with the printers.conf file. This file within its parameters has the AuthInfoRequired value as "none" for all the printers; however, it tends to overwrite eventually with the value, "username, password"

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 5 & 6
  • Common Unix Printing System (CUPS)
