Can I query the status of a remote printer in RHEL?

Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

  • When issuing an lpstat -t command, the command returns that the printer is idle, even if paper is removed or it is powered down. Is there a way to get a better response from a remote printer?

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL)
  • Common Unix Printing System (CUPS)
