anaconda recognizes a partitioned whole disk as a LVM2 physical volume
Issue
- Anaconda recognizes a partitioned disk as LVM2 physical volume and can neither edit partitions on the disk nor install to them.
-
This problem was always seen on RHEL6 with limited condition, when the partitioned disk accidentally still contains the metadata of LVM physical volume for the whole disk.
-
For example, this situation can occur if the whole disk is partitioned without executing pvremove and formatted with ext3 file system on the partitions, after it had been initialized and used as LVM2 physical volume.
