Joining linux in windows ActiveDirectory

Issue

  • I am attempting to join SAMBA server to a winodws 2003 domain. I get the following error. Any help is always apreciated.

    # kinit admin@AD.EXAMPLE.COM
Password for admin@AD.EXAMPLE.COM:
#
# net rpc join -S AD.EXAMPLE.COM -U admin%xxxxxxx
[2010/07/28 20:11:24, 0] utils/net_rpc_join.c:net_rpc_join_newstyle(367)
  Error in domain join verification (credential setup failed): NT_STATUS_INVALID_COMPUTER_NAME

Unable to join domain ADDOMAIN.

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.4
  • samba-3.0.33-3.15.el5_4

  • linux server hostname: server.ad.example.com

  • ActiveDirecotry Domain name: ad.example.com

  • ActiveDirecotry NetBIOS name: ADDOMAIN
  • ActiveDirecotry DC FQDN：ad.example.com
  • ActiveDirectory DC OS：Windows2003 Server
