Attempting to update SSL certificate results in Apache denying traffic due to unknown client certificates using DigiCert/Symantec Certificate Authority

Issue

After installing our new Digicert/Symantec certificate on RH Satellite Server 6.3, we are unable to connect to the repositories (either in a browser or via yum) due to SSL errors.

I have temporarily reverted back to the original self-signed certificate because I have been unable to get our new certificate to work. The new certificate is DigiCert by Symantec (RSA SHA-2 (under SHA-1 Root) Root CA Issued to: DigiCert Global Root CA).
