kdump failure when network requires multiple nics to reach dump target

Issue

  • kdump.conf configured to use network destination such as nfs or ssh
  • Network destination requires multiple NICs active
  • DNS nameserver on separate NIC than NIC with path to dump destination
  • kdump kernel gets name resolver failure
  • /etc/resolv.conf forced into kdump's initramfs ineffective
  • kdump: dump target is
  • kdump: error: Dump target is not mounted.
  • kdump: saving vmcore failed
  • [FAILED] Failed to start Kdump Vmcore Save Service.
