RHEL5.5 - During Load testing primary Network interfaces stops working
Issue
-
During Application load testing, after a sustained test (20+ hours), the primary network interface stops working.
-
There are no indications or error messages, they simply just stop pinging and we can't ssh/telnet to them.
-
The only way to "fix" is to reboot each server.
Environment
- Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 5.5
- 2 servers are Dell's R710's with the lastest BIOS/DRAC/BMC and NIC firmware loaded on them.
- Broadcom NetXtreme II BCM5709 1000Base-T (CO) PCI EXPRESS
- Pretty much vanilla IBM IHS (Web Server) with Plugin (version 6.0.2.xx). Simulating 2x Peak Load using Mercury Load Runner simulating 120 users. Probably about 2 plus million hits per hour per web server. About 75 percent http and 23 percent https.
- Resonate Central Dispatch load balancing product is in use for their shared web environment.
