RHEL6 NFS client panic in nfs4_do_reclaim

Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

  • Multiple systems all using a Netapp QTree shared NFS mount randomly reboot. After capturing a vmcore of the reboot, we see a "general protection fault: 0000 [#1] SMP" in the kernel ring buffer.
  • Kernel crashes in nfs4_do_reclaim, either due to a general protection fault or a NULL pointer dereference

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6 (kernel version prior to 2.6.32-358.2.1.el6)
  • NFSv4 client
