Why HA VMs in RHV fails to start with error "Failed to get "write" lock"

Issue

  • The High Available (HA) VMs in RHV fails to start with the below error.
2018-11-22T04:40:10.166502Z qemu-kvm: -device scsi-hd,bus=ua-2090deef-0ced-4122-bb43-5669fc136719.0,channel=0,scsi-id=0,lun=0,drive=drive-ua-8be57429-85ae-4bb6-9f03-58f1615de6b3,id=ua-8be57429-85ae-4bb6-9f03-58f1615de6b3,bootindex=1,write-cache=on: Failed to get "write" lock
  • The host where the VMs are running went down. However, the HA VMs fails to start and engine reports that it failed because of qemu OFD locking.

Environment

  • Red Hat Virtualization 4.2.
  • NFS storage domain.
