Increased memory consumption in JBoss EAP 5

Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

  • Why does EAP 5 use more memory  than EAP 4.3 or EAP 4.2?
  • EAP 5 appears to have a large memory  foot print. Why is this?
  • Memory usage comparison of EAP 4.3.0 CP06 vs. EAP  5.0.1:

    EAP 4.3.0_CP06 after startup:
    Heap:  ~200 MB
    PermGen:  ~110 MB
Accumulated VM size after startup: ~350  MB
Accumulated VM  size peak during startup: ~600 MB

    EAP  5.0.1 after startup:
    Heap: ~450 MB
    PermGen: ~130 MB
Accumulated  VM  size after startup: ~750 MB
Accumulated VM size peak during  startup:  ~1200 MB

Environment
