Intermittent DNS issues with nodes deployed on AWS M5/C5 instances

Issue

  • Nodes (or pods) deployed on AWS M5/C5 instances are experiencing intermittent DNS issues (i.e. timeouts) when trying to access an external/public endpoint.
  • Applications might face a SERVFAIL response from the AWS VPC DNS resolver. This could happen regularly and not for all the DNS requests.
  • This issue affects ALL AWS regions.
