Group names are not resolved by SSSD after a group has been renamed, only the GIDs are shown

Issue

  • Some secondary groups are not resolved to their corresponding names by sssd

    $ id -a
uid=1132400003(user1) gid=1132400003(user1) groups=1132400003(user1),1132400004,1132400005(grp2),1132400009(groups) context=unconfined_u:unconfined_r:unconfined_t:s0-s0:c0.c1023

  • Even after invalidating the cache with the sss_cache -E command, the groupnames are not shown properly

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 7
  • sssd version 1.16.0 and earlier
