S2I image retains artifacts in /tmp/src

Issue

  • We see very large images after the S2I build in different technologies. As we analyzed them, we saw the source and dependency packages kept in the /tmp/src directory leading to 2GB extra space obtained by the final image.

  • Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform 3.x
  • Source to Image build Strategy (S2I)
