RHV: Failed to attach disk to Commvault VM while backing up

Issue

  • Cannot backup VM using Commvault
  • Hotplug of the snapshot to the Commvault Agent fails.
  • The following sequence of events is seen, where the snapshots succeed to create and delete, but fail to attach to the Commvault agent:
Snapshot '_GX_BACKUP_XYZ' creation for VM 'example.com' was initiated by admin@internal-authz.
Snapshot '_GX_BACKUP_XYZ' creation for VM 'example.com' has been completed.
Failed to attach Disk example.com_Disk1 to VM commvault (User: admin@internal-authz).
Snapshot '_GX_BACKUP_XYZ' deletion for VM 'example.com' was initiated by admin@internal-authz.
Snapshot '_GX_BACKUP_XYZ' deletion for VM 'example.com' has been completed.

  • Red Hat Virtualization 4.1, 4.2
    • Using Backup API
    • Block Storage (iSCSI, FibreChannel)
