[RHEL6] Unable to PXE boot on KVM Guest using virtio network interface

Issue

  • PXE boot installation of KVM guest failed because network interface could not get ip address from the dhcp server and did not retry connecting to the dhcp server.

  • Problem occurred on KVM guest using virtio network interface with bridge and did not occur with e1000 or rtl8139.

  • When this problem occurred, following messages were printed.

net0: 52:54:00:54:93:3e on PCI00:05.0 (open)
  [Link:up, TX:0 TXE:0 RX:0 RXE:0]
Waiting for link-up ion net0... ok
DHCP (net0 52:54:00:54:93:3e)................. Connection timed out (0x4c106035)
No more network devices

No bootable device.
