"lp" command in RHEL 7 may not be able to print to a RHEL 3 CUPS server
Issue
We are trying to print from a RHEL 7 (CUPS 1.6.3) client directly to a RHEL 3 (CUPS 1.1.37) server using a command like the following:
# lp -d laser file.pdf -h 10.1.2.3
lp: successful-ok
The return message shows "successful-ok", but there is no information on the request id, like "request id is laser-10 (1 file(s))" The print job is printed by the printer.
Environment
- Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 7 client with RHEL 3 server
- Common Unix Printing System (CUPS) 1.6.3 client with CUPS 1.1.37 server
