After update, latest kernel fails to boot with Error 24: Attempt to access block outside partition

Issue

• The system is showing grub stage 2 error Error 24: Attempt to access block outside partition on boot
• The system can boot into an older kernel, but shows Error 24: Attempt to access block outside partition on boot when booting into the latest kernel.
