Question about the qpid client in a clustered environment using MRG-M

Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

  • When the primary node in an active-passive broker cluster dies, rgmanager promotes one of the standbys to become the primary and moves the VIP to that node.

    • Does this move break the TCP/IP session between the client and the broker?
    • Is the qpid client library aware of this move and has to reconnect to the VIP to get connected to the broker again?
  • Consider a similar situation in an active-active clustering case. There is no VIP in this case and client would have to connect to a new IP address.

    • In this case, is the connection aware of the move?

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise MRG Messaging (any version)
