Print jobs disappear from the spool after three hours in RHEL

Issue

On a new system I send print job on printers that doesn't exist. The jobs stay in the print queue (the lpstat -o command shows them; however, after a few hours, the jobs are removed from the spool (they are no longer in the output of lpstat -o).
Our print jobs take a very long time to print. After several hours, the jobs seem to be automatically canceled.
