Why does kickstart installation of Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7 land up into dracut shell and upon exit, continues installation?

Solution Verified - Updated -

  • An internal Automation process creates an ISO image to be consumed by physical servers to get staged. The expected result is to stage a physical server which has VLAN tagged interface.
  • If one tries to stage a server over ISO and if NIC needs to use VLAN tagging (kickstart file has all necessary configuration), the staging stops with a dracut timeout error and eventually lands up into dracut# shell, upon typing exit, it continues installation without any problem.
