Client connections remain up when shutting down a virtual interface

Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

  • There is an application that connects to the virtual interface and when the application is shutdown and the virtual interface is brought down, the connected application does not get a FIN TCP message and assumes the connection is up until it attempts to send data.
  • When failover from primary node to secondary node, client connection needs to be killed on VIP failover so it starts with a new connection.
