Issue

Can packages in Red Hat Enterprise Linux be upgraded using thirdparty or upstream packages?
To accommodate an upgrade of an application, need to have libstdc++ at v4.1.2 or later. This server's channel only has v3X available but I do have a non-Redhat package of v4.1.2. Can I safely apply this upgraded version or will it cause issues?
