Apache SSL traffic causes high memory usage
Issue
-
We are experiencing a memory leak with Apache where over time (could be up to a few weeks) we see the Apache processes use up over 1.5G of memory.
-
As the Apache processes consume more memory and all the swap space the OS eventually hangs and the only way to recover is to reboot the box.
- We haven't been able to confirm this but it appears that this problem may have something to do with SSL because the high memory problem seems to coincide with Apache instances handling more SSL traffic.
Environment
- httpd 2.2.x
