JBoss ON provisioning bundle deployment to EAP 6 standalone server may fail if EAP server is not running due to: Cannot obtain trait [Deploy Directory] for resource

Issue

  • Bundle deployment fails with the below error:

    Deployment failed: java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: Cannot obtain trait [Deploy Directory] for resource [EAP (127.0.0.1:9990)]

  • Bundle is not deployed.

Environment

  • JBoss Operations Network (ON) 3.1.1, 3.1.2
  • JBoss Enterprise Application Platform (EAP) 6
  • JBoss Application Server (AS) 7 management plug-in
  • Attempting to deploy a JBoss ON provisioning bundle to one or more JBoss EAP standalone server resources
    • Deployment Base Location is set to Deploy Directory
  • JBoss EAP standalone server is not running or is temporarily unavailable at the time the bundle is being deployed
