How do I declare my custom-handler's module in an application logging.properties file?

Issue

I have a custom-handler class located in a module we created. I know how to specify this in the JBoss standalone.xml logging configuration but our application needs to use its own logging.properties file and it's giving us a ClassNotFoundException on our custom logging class. How can I tell it where to find the module?
