Why do I see soft lockup messages in release_console_sem when using high resolution console and many messages are printed?

The system runs otherwise fine.

The message is only printed at boot (sometimes multiple times).

What is causing these messages?

Environment

Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 (probably possible with all RHEL versions)

Console is using high resolution (or is otherwise slow).

Many messages are printed at boot (lot of SCSI devices being enumerated for example).
