LVM commands fail to write metadata when device's write-protect state is set to Read-Only

Issue

  • Tried to run an lvm command (vgextend, lvcreate, etc) which failed with error Operation not permitted

  • Device shows as wp=ro in multipath command output

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7
