Powerflow application Exa does not support consistent network device naming

Solution Verified - Updated -

Environment

Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7

Issue

Powerflow FlexLM* does not support interface names other than ethX. Alternate interface names such as em1 are not recognized and will return an invalid hostid of 000000000000 .

Resolution

If you are willing to disable consistent network device naming, please consider that using the old naming scheme in RHEL is safe only under few circumstances. You can refer to this article for more info.

However, as this is a third party application, we suggest to engage software vendor. For sake of info, to other customers, Exa suggested to migrate to another license manager called "RLM" that does not look on to the interface names. Please notice that this is just an info based on our internal support cases so we strongly suggested to double check that with application vendor.
